LATEST NEWS:
WE WON!! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

Welcome to the University of Salford's BBC Bitesize Challenge wiki - if you are a University of Salford student who wants to apply to take part in the challenge, you need to follow the link at the bottom of this page to submit your application.
BBC Formal Learning are inviting teams to work alongside BBC staff to come up with a creative solution to a real problem they're looking at. It's all about BITESIZE, one of the oldest and most successful BBC web sites, being used by up to 75% of all students at GCSE level and well over half at other levels. The BBC want ideas as to how Bitesize as a product could evolve - specifically addressing the brand at Key stage 3.
Can you help the BBC come up with a solution and help shape the future of this major brand?
They are looking for ideas for content and how they would work - what extra functionality would the site need? Are there any other technologies or platforms they should use?
If you would like to take part in the BBC Bitesize Challenge (and enhance your CV!), the first stage is to apply through this site, telling us a little bit about yourself, your skills and ideas - the deadline for this is 9th October, so don't miss it!
Applicants will be notified mid-October, and the applicants who have been chosen for our Salford Team will then be invited to an informal team briefing session at the University of Salford on Weds 28th October.
On Thursday 5th November, you'll be taken to Leeds Metropolitan University where you'll work in your team and a member of the BBC Bitesize team will be on hand to help shape the discussions. You will be given a full brief and some brain-storm training on the day, but start having a think before you arrive. At the end of the day, you'll pitch your ideas to the panel of BBC big wigs… and they'll shortlist to those they are most interested in. Each of those teams will be given 4 weeks to develop their ideas, and a Bitesize development mentor to help them work on them.
On Friday 4th December, the shortlisted teams will pitch their ideas to the Bitesize team. The best will be chosen and invited in for placement. This is a fantastic opportunity as the students behind the best proposal will be given a month long placement with the Formal Learning development team in London bringing their vision to life, and a foot in the door to a BBC department that will be recruiting for new staff when the move from London in 2011!
Applications and competition now closed - SALFORD WON!
